Iran’s FM Accuses Trump of “Betraying Diplomacy” Amid Attacks
In remarks posted on the social media platform X, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi suggested that negotiations had been mishandled. "When complex nuclear negotiations are treated like a real estate transaction, and when big lies cloud realities, unrealistic expectations can never be met," Araghchi wrote.
He contended that the outcome of such an approach amounted to "bombing the negotiation table out of spite."
“Mr. Trump betrayed diplomacy and Americans who elected him,” Araghchi said.
The exchange comes as tensions in the region have intensified following a sweeping military offensive launched Saturday by the United States and Israel against Iran. According to reports, the strikes have resulted in nearly 800 fatalities, including Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
Tehran has since responded with retaliatory drone and missile attacks directed at Israel and several Gulf states that host American military assets, further escalating the confrontation.
