Iranian FM Travels to Geneva for Next Round of Nuclear Talks with US
Araghchi, serving as Iran’s lead negotiator, is traveling with a senior delegation that includes Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi and a team of nuclear and legal experts, according to Iranian state media. Also joining the delegation is Kazem Gharibabadi, who is already in Geneva and recently addressed the Geneva Disarmament Forum.
The US team, as in previous rounds, will be led by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushnermani mediation since nuclear negotiations resumed last month, following regional efforts, including by Turkiye, to ease tensions. After the second round in Geneva — which followed the initial session in Muscat — both sides reported progress, agreeing on “guiding principles” that Iranian negotiators said could lay the groundwork for a potential deal.
Writing on the US social media platform X on Tuesday evening, Araghchi said the Iranian delegation will approach Geneva “with a determination to achieve a fair and equitable deal in the shortest possible time.” He added that the upcoming talks will build upon “the understandings forged in the previous rounds” in Muscat and Geneva.
