Iran Condemns Trump Threat as US Fleet Approaches Waters

(MENAFN) Iranian officials have strongly reacted to the latest warning from US President Donald Trump, as a US military fleet advances toward Iranian waters amid rising tensions between the two countries.

On Wednesday, Trump posted on social media that a “massive armada” is heading toward Iran, expressing hope that Tehran would “come to the table” for negotiations with Washington. He noted that the fleet, led by the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln, surpasses in size the one previously sent to Venezuela before the removal of Nicolás Maduro, and added it is “prepared to rapidly fulfil its missions with speed and violence if necessary.”

The US president also wrote: “Hopefully Iran will quickly ‘come to the table’ and negotiate a fair and equitable deal – NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS – one that is good for all parties. Time is running out; it is truly of the essence.”

In response, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized that the country’s armed forces are fully ready, with their “fingers on the trigger” to “immediately and powerfully respond to any aggression” by land, sea, or air.

He added: “The valuable lessons learned from the 12-Day War have enabled us to respond even more strongly, rapidly, and profoundly.” Araghchi also reaffirmed Iran’s position on nuclear negotiations: “At the same time, Iran has always welcomed a mutually beneficial, fair, and equitable NUCLEAR DEAL—on equal footing, and free from coercion, threats, and intimidation—which ensures Iran’s rights to PEACEFUL nuclear technology and guarantees NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS.”
